Ancora Imparo (Sassafras)
This year our classroom piece is a celebration of learning in its truest form—beautiful, imperfect, and deeply meaningful.
Ancora Imparo, meaning “still learning,” is a framed wall mosaic created from shattered pieces of real ceramic items that were accidentally broken by our toddlers during their daily work. In our environment, these moments are not failures; they are part of the process. They represent experimentation, concentration, independence, and the courage it takes to try.
Rather than discarding these fragments, the children and adults of Sassafras carefully gathered, transformed, and reimagined them into a lasting work of art. Each tile holds a story: a small hand pouring water, washing a dish, or carrying a tray with intention. Through this collaborative process, the children witnessed how something broken can be honored, repaired, and turned into something meaningful.

Under the Dogwood tree, animals come together in a shared moment of curiosity and calm.
This one-of-a-kind mobile was thoughtfully created by the Dogwood classroom to honor connection, imagination, and the natural world. Vibrant beads trail down alongside playful animal figures, each one adding its own character and charm. Place it where the sun can reach it—a bright window or a sheltered porch—and let it transform your space with shimmering color and the warmth of young imaginations at work.

Birds of DC (Magnolia)
This year, Magnolia students transformed their curiosity about birds into a beautiful art project. After learning about a variety of songbirds found in Washington, DC, each student selected one to study closely and designed a unique block print inspired by their chosen bird. They carefully carved their designs into printing blocks, and together their individual works were combined to create a stunning composite image featuring 16 distinct birds—each one a reflection of the students’ creativity, concentration, and growing appreciation for the natural world.
